As we have learned

Equal mass in case of perfectly elastic collision -

v_{1}= u_{2} \: and \: v_{2}= u_{1}

- wherein

Velocity mutualy interchange

 x-axis

 m u = mv_1 \cos \theta _1 + mv_2 \cos \theta _2......(1)

y -axis

0 = v_1 \sin \theta _1 + v_2 \sin \theta _2......(2)

\frac{1}{2} mu^2 = \frac{1}{2} mv_1 ^2 + \frac{1}{2} mv_{2}^{2}

u ^ 2 = v _{1}^{2} + v _{2}^{2} ....(3 ) \\\\ (1) ^2 + (2)^2

u ^ 2 = v _{1}^{2} + v _{2}^{2} + 2 v _ 1 v _2 [ \cos (\theta _1+ \theta _2)] ....(4)

By (3) and (4)

\cos \left ( \theta _1 + \theta _2 \right ) = 0

\left ( \theta _1 + \theta _2 \right ) = 90 \degree
