If    \mathrm{\frac{1}{v}=\frac{1}{f}-\frac{1}{u}}
If   \mathrm{\mathrm{u} \rightarrow}  increases, \mathrm{\frac{1}{\mathrm{u}} } \mathrm{\rightarrow} decreases

and    \mathrm{\frac{1}{v} \rightarrow}  increases. So v decreases.
