Cleistogamous flowers never bloom. Anthers and stigma are located close to one another in these flowers. Pollen grains come into touch with the stigma when anthers dehisce in flower buds to cause pollination. Flowers that are cleistogamous are always autogamous because there is no chance of cross-pollen settling on the stigma.
