The assertion is true. Trypsinogen is the inactive precursor form of the digestive enzyme trypsin. Trypsinogen is secreted by the pancreas into the small intestine, where it is activated by the enzyme enterokinase. The resulting trypsin then activates other digestive enzymes and helps to break down proteins in the food we eat.

The reason is also true. Zymogens, also known as proenzymes or inactive precursor forms, are produced and stored in the pancreas to protect it from being digested by its own enzymes. If the active forms of digestive enzymes were to be released in the pancreas, they would start digesting pancreatic tissue, leading to pancreatitis, a painful and potentially life-threatening condition.

Therefore, the pancreas produces and stores these inactive precursor forms of digestive enzymes, including trypsinogen, until they are needed for digestion in the small intestine which means both Assertion (A) and Reason (R) are true and Reason (R) is a correct explanation of Assertion (A). Hence, the correct answer is option 1.
