As we already discussed in Oogenesis -

  • The process of formation of a mature female gamete or ovum is called oogenesis.
  • It consists of three phases:
    • Multiplication phase
    • Growth phase
    • Maturation phase
  • Oogonia form primary oocyte
  • Later follicles develop around it
  • Follicular stage is primary, secondary and then tertiary stage
  • Tertiary follicle further develops and forms Graafian follicle and at the same time primary oocyte becomes secondary oocyte
  • Secondary oocyte further undergoes Meiosis 2 but it is arrested at Metaphase 2
  • This secondary oocyte is released from the ovary (ovulation) and enters the fallopian tube were it stays for 24 hrs and if sperms arive, fertilisation will occur
  • If sperms do not arive, secondary oocyte enters Uterus and alongwith Endometrium sheds as a part of menstruation

Hence the answer is d
