  • It consists of Anterior and Posterior parts
  • Anterior part (Adenohypophysis) releases hormones under the influence of Hypothalamus 
  • Posterior part (Neurohypophysis) does not produce any hormone.It stores and releases hormones of Hypothalamus
  • The two main hormones are Oxytocin and Vasopressin
  • Oxytocin is the birth hormone and Vasopressin is ADH (Anti diuretic hormone) that controls the concentration of urine
