first law of Thermodynamics -

Energy of universe is always conserved or total energy of an isolated system is always conserved

\Delta E= q + W

Adiabatic Process -

Heat exchange between the system and surroundings is zero i.e.

q= 0

\Delta E=w

For free expansion, since \mathrm{P_{ext}=0}

So, Work done =0

For adiabatic condition, q=0

\Delta v=0

\Delta T=0

Option 1)

q=0,\:\Delta T\neq 0,w=0

Incorrect option

Option 2)

q\neq0,\:\Delta T= 0,w=0

Incorrect option

Option 3)

q=0,\:\Delta T= 0,w=0

Correct option

Option 4)

q=0,\:\Delta T< 0,w\neq0

Incorrect option
