# 2.4) A spherical conductor of radius 12 cm has a charge of $1.6 \times 10^{-7}C$ distributed uniformly on its surface. What is the electric field(b) just outside the sphere

Given,

Charge on the conductor $q=1.6*10^{-7}C$

The radius of a spherical conductor $R=12cm=0.12m$

NOW,

the electric field outside the spherical conductor is given by:

$E=\frac{kq}{r^2}=\frac{1}{4\pi \epsilon }\frac{q}{r^2}=\frac{9*10^9*1.6*10^{-7}}{0.12^2}=10^5NC^{-1}$

Hence electric field just outside is $10^5NC^{-1}$.
