(vii) Benzaldehyde to 3-Phenylpropan-1-ol
Answers (1)
By cross aldol-condesation of benzaldehyde and acetaldehyde gives 3-phenylprop-2-ene-al, which on catalytic hydrogenation gives 3-Phenylpropan-1-ol.
3-Phenylpropan-1-ol is used in chemistry for enantioseparation processes, such as separating amino alcohols, amines, amino acids, and hydroxy acids.
