# 3.  If the point (3, 4) lies on the graph of the equation $3y = ax+ 7$, find the value of a.

Given : the point (3, 4) lies on the graph of the equation $3y = ax+ 7$

Put x=3 and y=4

$3y = ax+ 7$

$\Rightarrow 3(4) = a(3)+ 7$

$\Rightarrow 12 = 3a+ 7$

$\Rightarrow 12 -7 = 3a$

$\Rightarrow 5 = 3a$

$\Rightarrow a=\frac{5}{3}$
