According to the formula of an average rate

= $-\frac{1}{2}\frac{\Delta[ A]}{\Delta t}$            (final concentration - initial conc.)/time interval

=$-\frac{1}{2}\frac{[ A]_{2}-[A]_{1}}{t_{2}-t_{1}}$

=$-\frac{1}{2}\frac{[ 0.4]-[0.5]}{10}$

=$\frac{0.1}{20}Mmin^{-1}$

= $5\times 10^{-3}Mmin^{-1}$
