# Q.6 Let ∗ be the binary operation on N given by $a* b = L.C.M.\; of \;a\; and \;b$. Find (iv) the identity of ∗ in N

$a* b = L.C.M.\; of \;a\; and \;b$

(iv) the identity of ∗ in N

We know that  $L.C.M.\; of \;a\; and \;1 = a = L.C.M.\; of 1\, \, and \;a\;$

$\therefore$            $a*1=a=1*a$   for $a \in N$

Hence, 1 is the identity of ∗ in N.
