5 \times \underline{(-7)} = -35

(c) \_\_\_\_ \ \times (- 8) = -56         

The product is negative, therefore there should be odd number of negative integers.

(d) \_\_\_\ \times (-12) = 132

The product is positive, therefore there should be even number of negative integers.
