Solution.
The abscissa is the x-axis (horizontal) coordinate
The ordinate is the y-axis (vertical) coordinate
We know that 
The sign of coordinates in the first quadrant is (+, +)
The sign of coordinates in the second quadrant is (–, +)
The sign of coordinates in the third quadrant is (–, –)
The sign of coordinates in the fourth quadrant is (+, –)
So that we can say that in II and III quadrant abscissa and ordinate are having different signs.
Therefore option (D) is correct
