given that

investment of A was 40% of the total investment

B invested his sum for 4 months

profit received by A was 4/7 of the total profit

Find: time period of investment of A.

solution:

we know that ratio of share = ratio of investment X time

the investment ratio of A and B is 4:6=2:3

let A invest for T months, and B invest for 4 months

share ratio =   \frac{2T}{3 \times 4}

\\ \frac{4}{3}=\frac{T}{3 \times 2}\\ \\ T=8

Hence, A invested for 8 months
