(a) Differentiate between self inductance and mutual inductance.

(b) The mutual inductance of two coaxial coils is 2H. The current in one coil is changed uniformly from zero to 0.5A in 100 ms. Find the :

         (i) change in magnetic flux through the other coil.

a) Self-inductance is the property of the given coil while Mutual inductance is the property of a given pair of coils.

i)

 \Delta \phi=M\Delta I=2\times0.5=1weber

ii)

e=-\frac{d\phi}{dt}=\frac{1}{100\times10^{-3}}=10V
