Solution:  Any point lying on the curve  is  (x,x^2+2).

                 	herefore      d=sqrt(x-3)^2+x^4

               Put        u =d^2=x^4+x^2-6x+9

                      fracmathrmd umathrmd x=0     gives    x=1.

              Moreover ,    (fracmathrmd^2u mathrmd x^2)x=1> 0    	herefore d=sqrt5
