(a) (i) In vapour state, sulphur partly exists as S2 molecule, which like O2 has two upaired electrons in the antibonding \pi^{\ast } orbitals and hence exhibits paramagnetic.

(ii) The single N-N bond is weaker than P-P bond because of high interelectronic repluion of the non-bonding electrons, owing to the small bond length.

(iii) O3 is the thermodynamically unstable and decomposes to O2. The decomposition is exothermic.

(b) (i) 3Cu+8HNO_{3}\overset{cold dil.}{\rightarrow}2NO+Cu(NO_{3})_{2}+4H_{2}O

      (ii) Cu +3HNO_{3}\xrightarrow[acid]{stong}NO_{2}+Cu(NO_{3})_{2}+H_{2}O
