A metallic solid cylinder of height 1 metre and diameter15cm has been melted and recast in to spheres each of diameter 5cm . how many such spheres will be obtained

Answers (1)

The volume of the cylinder

V_c=\pi r^2h=\pi \times7.5^2\times100cm^3

The volume of the sphere

V_s=\frac{4}{3}\pi r^3=\frac{4}{3}\pi\times2.5^3

\text{Number of spheres}=\frac{\text{volume of cylinder}}{\text{volume of sphere}}

=\frac{\pi \times7.5^2\times100cm^3}{\frac{4}{3}\pi\times2.5^3}=\frac{3\times7.5\times7.5\times100}{4\times2.5\times2.5\times2.5}=270

270 spheres can be obtained
