(b)     The steps involved in the exttraction of copper from Cu_{2}S are:

 Cu_{2}S(s)+3O_{2}(g)\rightarrow 2Cu_{2}O(s)+2SO_{2}(g)

2Cu_{2}O(s)+Cu_{2}S(s)\rightarrow 6Cu(s)+SO_{2}(g)

This process is known as autareduction.

The copper obtained here is impure.It is refined by electrolytic refining.

At cathode:

Cu^{2+}(aq)+2e^{-}\rightarrow Cu(s)

At anode:

Cu(s)\rightarrow Cu^{2+}+2e^{-}
