A uniform rectangular marble slab is 3.4m long and 2.0m wide . it has a mass of 180kg . if it is originally lying on a flat ground , the work required to stand on it on an end is?

The work is done against gravity $$W= mgh $$

where h  is the height through which the center of mass is raised

now 

              $$W= 180 kg imes 9.8 m/s^2 imes 1.7 m $$\$$ $$ W = 3.0kj

Hence, work needed to stand it on end $$ W = 3.0 kj
