(a) What do you mean by bandwidth of a signal ? Give its importance.
(b) Differentiate between Analog and Digital communication.
(c) Write the functions of transducer and repeaters.
(a) Bandwidth is defined as a range within a band of frequencies. it is also the amount of data that can be transmitted in a fixed amount of time.
The type of communication system needed for a given signal depends on the band of frequencies
(b) Analog communication uses analogue signals for transmission and reception of data.
Analogue signals are the continuous time-varying signals
Digital communication uses digital signals for transmitting and receiving data.
digital signals are those signals which consist of discrete values.
(c) Transducer: (i) It is a device which converts one form of energy into another
(ii) It converts physical variables like pressure, force, displacement etc, into its corresponding electrical signal
Repeater: (i) A repeater is a combination of a receiver and a transmitter.
ii) Repeaters are used to extend the range of a communication system
