(a) 56k\Omega \pm 10%

5 stands for Green colour

6 stands for Blue colour

k implies 10^{3} and it stands for the orange colour

\pm 10% implies silver colour

The first two colours indicate two significant figures 5 and 6. The third colour indicates decimal multiplier and the last colour indicates tolerance.

(b) The material of meter bridge wire is manganin or constantan

The characteristic properties include :

  • High specific resistance or resistivity
  • Low-temperature coefficient of resistance

(c) To minimise error in finding the unknown resistance of the given wire, the precaution to be taken are:

  • the balance point should lie between 30cm and 70cm
  • clean the connecting wires and connecting points of the meter bridge properly with sandpaper.
