Given

f=8cm

u=-24cm

v=?

by the lens formula

1/f = 1/v - 1/u

or 

1/v = 1/f+ 1/u=1/8-1/24 = 1/12

v=12 cm

magnitude of magnificaation m = (v/u)=12/24 =0.5 

magnification is smaller than 1, so the image is smallerthan the object
