As amines have a lone pair of electrons on the nitrogen atom and can accept a proton, they are basic in nature. The basic strength of an amine depends on how easily this lone pair is available to donate.

Example of basic nature- $\text{CH}_3\text{NH}_2 > \text{NH}_3$ (methylamine is more basic than ammonia)
