Drip irrigation is a type of irrigation system that has the potential to save water and nutrients by allowing water to drip slowly to the roots of plants. It could  either doe  from above the soil surface or buried below the surface. The purpose is to place water directly into the root zone in the right amount ad rigfht time so that plants gets exactly what they need.

Advantages of drip irrigation are:

  • Higher consistent quality yields
  • No evaporation 
  • Drip irrigates uniformly in any  soil type
  • Energy savings: drip irrigation works on low pressure
  • Efficient use of fertilizer and crop protection, with no leaching
  • Less dependency on weather, greater stability and lower risks
