(a) Chelate complex: The complex formed by the ligand that contains two donor atoms positioned in a way such that a five or six numbered ring is formed with the mi ion. The ring formed is called chelate ring.

For eg: [PtCl_2(en)]

           

(b) Ambidentate Ligand: Unidentate ligands containing more than one co-ordinating atoms are called ambidentate ligands.
