When a point charge -Q is kept near an uncharged conducting plate, then it induces charges on it. The side of the plate towards the charge -Q would have a net positive charge (+Q) and the other side would have a net negative charge -Q

Such that, the electric field lines start from positive charge and end at a negative charge, Thus
