# Explain any two reasons justifying the need of modulating a message signal before transmission in a communication system.

(i) Mixing up of signals from different transmitters.

$\Rightarrow$ Suppose, many transmitters are transmitting baseband information signals simultaneously.

$\Rightarrow$ All there signals will get mixed up.

$\Rightarrow$ So, if the original low-frequency baseband message or signal is translated to high-frequency wave, mixing up of signals can be avoided.

(iii) Effective power radiated by the antenna

$\Rightarrow$ The power radiated is proportional to $\inline \left ( \frac{l}{\lambda } \right )^{2}$, where $\inline l$ is the length of the antenna and $\inline \lambda$ is the wavelength.

$\Rightarrow$ The effective power radiated by the long-wavelength signal is small. So, connecting the baseband signal to high frequency is needed.
