The emitter-base junction is forward biased and the collector-emitter junction is reverse biased.

The input is given between base and emitter and output is taken between collector and emitter.

I_{E}=I_{C}+I_{B}

I_{E} is emitter current

I_{C} is the collector current

I_{B} is the base current
