 Einstein's photoelectric equation is given by

     h\nu=\phi +\frac{1}{2}mv^{2}

Where =  plank's constant

                h\nu =  energy of the photon

                 \nu =  frequency of proton

                \phi = work function

            \frac{1}{2}mv^{2}= kinetic energy of the electron

The above equation implies that the kinetic energy of emitted electrons is independent of intensity of light and a minimum threshold frequency is required for an electron to come out of the metal. Both of these are not explained by wave theory.
