Find the distance between the points (-3, -4) and (5, -7)

Answers (1)

The distance between the points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) is

\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}

Therefore the distance between the points (–3, –4) and (5, -7)  is

\\\sqrt{(5-(-3))^2+(-7-(-4))^2}=\sqrt{8^2+(-3)^2}\\\\=\sqrt{64+9}=\sqrt{71}\ units
