Now if it leaves a remainder 5 when 2053 is divided by it then 2048(2053-5) is divisible by it.

Similarly 960(967-7) is also divisible by it.

HCF of 2048 and 960=64

Therefore, the largest number which divides 2053 and 967 and leaves  remainder  5 and 7 respectively is 64.
