Distance Formula

            d = \sqrt{(x_2 - x_1)^2 + (y_2- y_1)^2}

(x_1, y_1) = (0,0)    and     (x_2, y_2) = (x,-4)

            5 = \sqrt{(x-0)^2 + (-4 -0)^2}

            5 = \sqrt{x^2 + 16}

Squaring both sides,

            25 = {x^2 + 16} \Rightarrow x^2 = 9

            x = \pm 3
