Gas transportation o2and co2
Oxygen and carbon dioxide are transported in the blood between the lungs and the rest of the body. Oxygen is mainly carried by red blood cells, where it binds to hemoglobin to form oxyhemoglobin. A small amount is also dissolved in the plasma. Carbon dioxide is produced by cells and is mostly carried in the plasma as bicarbonate ions. Some amount of CO2 binds to hemoglobin and forms carbaminohemoglobin. Oxygen is transported from the lungs to the body, and carbon dioxide from the body to the lungs so that it can be exhaled.
