(a) Phenol reacts with Bromine water to form white precipitates, whereas alcohol does not react.

(b) Ethanol and dimethyl ether

Ethanol being acidic in nature reacts with sodium metal to release hydrogen gas whereas dimethyl ether does not react.

2CH_{3}CH_{2}OH+2Na \rightarrow 2CH_{3}ONa+H_{2}\uparrow

(c) 1-propanal being primary alcohol does not react with Lucus reagent. 2-methyl-2-propanol being tertiary alcohol immediately reacts with Lucas reagent to form alkyl halide and being insouble, it produces turbidity in the solution.
