When a sperm of male fuses with an egg of a female, fertilization occurs. Fertilization occurs to format diploid cells from two haploid cells which is known as a zygote. The sperm initially penetrates into the egg with the help of an enzyme called acrosome and further binds through the corona radiate which is a layer of follicle cells present on the outside of the secondary oocyte. The fusion of gametes thus produces a new organism.
