How variations play an important role in evolution?

At a given place or niche, the organisms of the same species exist together to form a single population.
The population develops in a niche due to the ability of the organisms to reproduce.
Thus, reproduction helps to maintain or stabilize the population of a species in a given niche.
Variation in the organism occurs due to the variations generated during the copying of DNA in the cell division process.
Sometimes, the variations in the two organisms of the same species create the difference between them for the tolerance of a critical condition.
Let us take the example of bacteria. The majority of the bacteria cannot tolerate high temperatures, but some bacteria showed variations making them heat tolerant. Hence there is the chance of existence of some bacteria during globing warming, even though the majority of them were not heat tolerant.
Hence, variation helps to increase the chance of the existence of an organism in the drastic situations caused in nature.
