(i) Ni +4CO \overset{360K}{\rightarrow}Ni(CO)_{4}

Ni(CO)_{4} \overset{470K}{\rightarrow}Ni+4CO

(ii)

  • ZnS is concentrated by froath floation process.
  • Roasting: ZnS+3O_{2}\overset{\Delta }{\rightarrow}2ZnO+2SO_{2}
  • REduction: ZnO+C\overset{1673K }{\rightarrow}Zn+CO
  • Impure zinc obtained is purified by distillation or electrolytic refining.

(iii) Zn reduces \left [ Ag(CN)_{2} \right ]^{-} to Ag

\left [ Ag(CN)_{2} \right ]^{-}(aq)+Zn(s)\rightarrow 2Ag(s)+\left [ Zn(CN)_{4} \right ]^{2-}(aq)

Ag refined by electrolytic refining.
