Given : Point P (6, 2) divides the line segment joining A(6, 5) and B(4, y) in the ratio 3 : 1, therefore y coordinate of point P 

2=\frac{3 y+5}{(3+1)} \\ 8=3 y+5 \\ 3 y=3 \Rightarrow y = \frac{3}{3}=1
