If two points (2, 3) and ( - 6, - 5) are equidistant from the point ( x , y ) , show that x + y + 3 = 0 .

Answers (1)

Given the two points are

two points (2, 3) and ( - 6, - 5) are

The distance between (x,y) and  (2,3)= The distance between (x,y) and (-6,-5)

That is

\\\sqrt{(x-2)^2+(y-3)^2}=\sqrt{(x+6)^2+(y+5)^2}\\implies\\\ (x-2)^2+(y-3)^2=(x+6)^2+(y+5)^2\\-4x+4-6y+9=12x+36+10y+25\\16x+16y+48=0\\x+y+3=0
