In case of photo electric effect expeiment, explain the following facts, giving reasons. (a) The wave theory of light could not explain the existence of the threshold frequency. (b) The photo electric current increases with increase of intensity of incident light.  
 

Answers (1)

a) The photoelectrons can be emitted using high-intensity incident light of any frequency. So, there need not be any threshold frequency for any given photosensitive surface.

(b) Increase in the intensity of light increases the number of photons. So the photoelectric current increases.
