Majority of angiosperms have hermaphrodite flowers, but self-pollination is discouraged by them. Here are three outbreeding devices that have developed to achieve this:

  1. Pollen release and stigma receptivity not before the stigma are receptive or otherwise.
  2. Anther and stigma are placed at a different position, stigma cannot come in contact with the pollen of the same flower.
  3. In some plant, flowers are unisexual, male flower and female flower born on a different plant.
