We can use bracket in algebra in many ways. Here are some examples.

i) Sum in algebra

5x + 2y + 4x - 5y = x(5+4) + y(2 -5)

                            = 9x - 3y

ii) Factorise the terms 

x2 - 4x + 3 = x2 - 3x - x+ 3

                  = x (x -3 ) -1 ( x-3)

                  = ( x- 3) (x -1)
