Show that the following points form an isosceles triangle. ( - 1, - 3), (2, - 1) and ( - 1, 1)

Answers (1)

 Let the points be A( - 1, - 3), B(2, - 1) and C( - 1, 1)

\\AB=\sqrt{(2-(-1))^2+(-1-(-3))^2}=\sqrt{3^2+2^2}=\sqrt{13}units\\\\BC=\sqrt{(-1-2)^2+(1-(-1))^2}=\sqrt{(-3)^2+2^2}=\sqrt{13}units\\\\AC=\sqrt{(-1-(-1))^2+(1-(-3))^2}=\sqrt{0^2+4^2}=4 units

AB=BC, therefore the given triangle is isosceles.
