Solve 3x-y=8 and x+2y=5

Answers (1)

3x-y=8.........(1)

x+2y=5.......(2)

multiply equation 2 with 3

There fore

3x-y=8.........(1) and

3x+6y=15.....(2)

(2)-(1) implies

7y=7

y=7/7=1

put y=1 in equation 1

3x-1=8

3x=8+1=9

3x=9

x=9/3=3

Therefore x = 3 and y=1
