Properties of Photon

(a) Each photon has an energy associated with it

E=hv

(b) The energy of Photon is independent of the intensity of incident radiation.

(i) Stopping Potential is the retarding potential applied to the collector plate for which the photocurrent becomes zero.

KE_{max}=e V_{o}

(ii) Threshold frequency

The minimum frequency of incident radiation required to emit electrons from the given photosensitive surface.

Eienstiens Photoelectric equation

KE_{max}=hv-hv_{o}

eV_{o}=hv-hv_{o}

V_{o}=\left ( \frac{h}{e} \right )v-\left ( \frac{h}{e} \right ){v_{o}}
