x2+|x|-6=0

Case-1 Suppose  x is positive

                                    x2+x-6=0

                              [x+3] [x-2] =0

                          x = -3 or x= 2  x is a positive number, so x=2

Case -2 Suppose  x is negative number 

                                        x2-x-6=0     

                                   [x-3] [x+2] =0

                                  x = 3 or x= -2     x is a negative number, so x=-2

x=2 and -2 are two roots of the given equation.
