# The figure shows a network of five capacitors connected to a 10V battery. Calculate the charge acquired by 5 $\mu F$ capacitor.

15$\mu F$ and 5$\mu F$ capacitors are parallel.

So resultant capacitance is 15+5 = 20 $\mu F$

10 $\mu F$ and 10 $\mu F$ capacitors are parallel,

So resultant capacitance is 10+10 = 20$\mu F$

In parallel connection potential difference is same and in series connection potential difference is different. Similarly in series connection charges on each capacitor are same.

The potential difference across 5 $\mu F$ and 15 $\mu F$ are 5V.

So charge acquired by 5 capacitors is,

Q = CV

= $5 \times 5$

= 25 $\mu F$
