The given graph shows the variation of photo-electric current (I) with the applied voltage(V) for two different materials and for two different intensities of the incident radiations. Identify and explain using Einstein's photo electric equation the pair of curves that corespond to (i) different materials but same intensity of incident radiation, (ii) different intensities but same materials.

(i) (3,4) and (1,2) corresponds to different material but the same intensity.

K_{max}=h\nu-\phi _{o}

V_{o}=\left ( \frac{h}{e} \right )\nu-\frac{h}{e}\left ( \nu_{o} \right )

Where

K_{max}= Kinetic energy

U= Frequency of incident radiation

V_{o}= Threshold frequency

For curve 3 and 4 \nu_{o} is different, therefore materials are different and saturation current is the same, therefore intensity is the same.

ii) (1,3) and (2,4) have different intensities but same material because stopping potential is same but saturation current is different.

current \propto intensity
